In addition to camps, Alphapointe holds several enrichment activities for children and teens who are blind or visually impaired.
Beep Kickball
Alphapointe’s Beep Kickball program is a fantastic initiative designed to provide individuals with vision impairments the opportunity to enjoy the game of kickball. This adapted version of the sport uses a ball and bases that emit sound, allowing players to locate them by hearing.
The program fosters:
Beep Kickball is a great time and will often include visually impaired and sighted players, promoting inclusivity and teamwork.
Each season typically runs for five weeks in the fall from mid-September to mid-October.
Alpha Art
This initiative is meant to help children and youth with vision loss explore their own creativity in a safe and fun environment. It is taught by an artist and art school student who is visually impaired.
Kids in class learn to express themselves, manage emotions, develop more self-awareness about their own abilities, and share in the joy of art with others who understand what life is like for someone who lives with vision loss.

Kids in the Kitchen
Alphapointe’s Kids in the Kitchen program is designed to empower visually impaired youth by teaching them essential cooking skills in a safe and supportive environment. The program helps children navigate kitchen utensils, appliances, and food preparation techniques, fostering both independence and confidence. Participants learn to prepare meals while gaining valuable life skills that promote self-sufficiency.
By focusing on safety and practical cooking methods, Kids in the Kitchen not only enhances culinary abilities but also boosts the overall self-esteem of the young participants.

STEP: Summer Work Program
S.T.E.P. stands for Student Transitional Employment Program and helps high-school youth build important skills and learn about different vocations.
PREP: College Transition
PREP supports visually impaired students transitioning from high school to college or those who have struggled in college.
