Alphapointe Subsidiary Rightfully Sewn Announces Tyler Bennett As New President
Rightfully Sewn, an organization dedicated to supporting some of our community’s most marginalized populations through training and employment in the garment industry, announced Tyler Bennett as president. Bennett joins the Alphapointe subsidiary as it expands its manufacturing capability and capacity while also growing its workforce and well-known seamstress training program.
“Tyler brings a vast amount of experience and expertise to the organization,” said Alphapointe President and CEO and Rightfully Sewn board member Reinhard Mabry. “Rightfully Sewn’s mission to provide employment opportunities to people from challenging circumstances is extremely important, and Tyler is the right person to expand the already significant impact of the organization.”
Bennett joins Rightfully Sewn at a time of significant growth. Since the 2020 acquisition, Rightfully Sewn has grown its manufacturing business, which generates jobs and sustainable revenue, by more than 500%. In that same period, Rightfully Sewn has expanded its workforce 400%, from five to 21 employees. Rightfully Sewn’s Academy Program is growing as well. Rightfully Sewn has doubled the number of annual training classes and increased the number of students in each class from six to 10, providing additional training to individuals looking to secure in-demand jobs in fields such as apparel manufacturing and tailoring.
“Rightfully Sewn’s positive evolution will continue as we build on its business infrastructure, learning from Alphapointe’s 112 years of experience,” said Bennett. “I believe in the mission of the organization and am committed to continuing to expand its footprint in the community.”
Most recently, Bennett served as Principal/Vice President/COO of TLA Solutions, a Kansas City-area operational management consulting firm whose clients included Anytime Fitness, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and The Home Depot.
With Bennett’s leadership, Rightfully Sewn will continue to build on its fashion heritage, through training and employment. Rightfully Sewn will also continue to be a fashion incubator, where designers may use the organization’s space and manufacturing to bring their ideas to life through small and large batch garment production.
